The entity content view is not attached to the content when it doesn't have any nodes in the results.
This is incorrect behaviour because the view can have a header that can be displayed even when the view doesn't have any results

This is the default views behavior for blocks, so I think EVA should do the same thing. This may be an issue for the view queue though if you feel strongly about it. In the meantime, as a workaround, you can use the 'no results' behavior and just put a space in there.
