I ported the 6.x-dev version to the 7.x-dev version which I'm now using on a (simple) production site.

I'd say the 6.x-dev version is stable (in that no-one seems to be working on it) and that it's *probably* OK for use on production sites but you need to understand that it isn't a "magic bullet" - you need to understand what the module does, test your functionality with it and *maybe* make changes to how your site works.
