There is no bridge for MyBB in the downloads area.
There are however others. Reverse engineering one of those may help ?
I'll Work on it
No guarantee though. I am pretty new to Drupal. I'll post here on updates and help.
Any updates ?
Hi,
I'd like to integrate myBB as well, did you manage to do something ?
Thanks.
rights management better
I have the same problem. I need myBB because of the better rights management and other functions. It will become a bigger webproject, so I wonder if I can get an integrated solution.
Will there be a port for myBB? mike/salzburg

Thanks
I also need a MyBB bridge
I also need a MyBB bridge for Drupal. Can anyone make one?

2 options
hire someone to build a bridge, who has the time to install the MyBB script, investigate the script, and write the bridge. Consultants found here: drupal.org/drupal-services
post over at MyBB and see if anyone these is interested that would want to learn Drupal.
The only other option would be to wait until someone else needs this that will do the work free of charge. This option can take much longer than a few months.
Thanks for your reply mate.
Thanks for your reply mate. I am new to the websites world and after a lot of search I've found that drupal does win when it comes to a long run website. Regarding which forum software to be used, I know that phpbb is the most widely used board, but really not that secured while it is the most widely used one. This was the main reason for searching for another one, and I've tried MyBB since the 1.2.8 and it is really nice and the coming 1.4 seems rock. I've realized that if I want to have a good working website that I have to know about php html css.
So after a lot of search I've found that no one interested to do it even for money and I've decided to do it in my own, but I am just do not know how to start?
If you have a few minutes to tell me the way to go it would be so nice of you. I mean the starting point to learn those things php html and css (do I need to learn any thing else if I want to do such a bridge?) and then how to know or learn how does mybb working.
One last thing ... am I right when I picked MyBB or there is another free forum software that could be better to be used with Drupal.
Thanks and much appreciated.

If it were me the fist thing that I would investigate is I'd reverse engineer anothe bridge in the downloads area. Either the one for phpbb or gallery2 something of the sort to get a grip with how the two seperate scripts must communicate to work correctly.
This will only give you insight. The next step would be to have an undestanding how the forum scipt you are dicussing works.
bridging is not for the faint of heart. You will need a good understanding of how both scripts work in order to write a script to sit between both scripts and sync databases with regards to sessions and such.
If this is your first php type project you may be on a long hard road of trial and error.
I do not use 3rd party forum scipts I find the forum.module in Drupal perfectly suitable in most cases. Somtimes I leave it stock, sometimes I add a few modules to the forum. To be thoroughly honest I find full featured forum scripts bloated.
good luck with your endeavors.
Thanks for fast reply mate
Thanks for fast reply mate ... I've downloaded three ebooks for Drupal,

[*]Apress.Pro.Drupal.Development.Apr.2007.pdf.

is it enough or I need something in more depth to know how exactly drupal working?

Pro Drupal Dev is a good book to read.
api.drupal.org is a great reference for Drupal functions as well.
These two:
[*]6966346-Packt.Publishing.Drupal.Creating.Blogs.Forums.Portals.and.Community.Websites.Apr.2006.pdf.
[*]Apress.Building.Online.Communities.with.Drupal.phpBB.and.WordPress.2006.pdf.
are a bit dated and were written for versions of Drupal prior to 5.x. As such I don't know how much of the information in them still apply.
I've found some not-finished
I've found some not-finished work for integration for MyBB and Drupal. It is [url=http://community.mybboard.net/showthread.php?tid=13920&pid=145317#pid145... [/url]for another member that no longer interested to use or update it and I contacted him and he said that it is ok if any one can continue the project. but not to remove the copy right.
Please any one interested to continue such a thing because I am really do not want to use phpBB with Drupal and want to use MyBB instead.
Honestly I've tried to work with it but really was not able to figure it out
Thanks
It would be great to see
It would be great to see this completed, thank you.
If he can do it so can someone else
It's just finding that someone else. I mean he said he did it really fast and easily. So we just got to find someone to finish it.

After MyBB changed their
After MyBB changed their licence from proprietary to GPL v3 I looked into its code and decided to make bridge to Drupal. Work in progress. Suggestions and sponsoring are welcome.

Here's a possible Idea....
I realize this is an old thread now, with no activity in quite some time. But I thought I'd mention it. It may not help some, but might help others. I found this post by the developer of the Advanced Forum module, and feel her pain. Apparently she got really close to a mybb style in the Drupal Advanced forum, but didn't have time to complete it. Take a look here - she's got everything there needed for someone else to pick up and finish, I think:
http://shellmultimedia.com/blog/mybb-style-advanced-forum
If I had the time, I'd give it a shot, though I need to do some more learning in these specific areas myself probably to do so, again not enough time..
Advanced Forum
Hi !
Is Advanced Forum still really active ? Supported enough to be used on a production site ?
I'm searching for the best user-friendly forum solution on Drupal... hard job !
yes nothing better
yes nothing better
Little project
Hi everybody,
I have just started making a little project since nobody seems to have interest by integrating mybb and Drupal, but my integration will be only one way that means that you can create/register users in Drupal and you'll have the users in mybb too but not create accounts in mybb and having them in Drupal.
I've made a little work, but I'm just a newbie and need some time, until now you can create/register accounts, login into Drupal and mybb at the same time and get the last threads from mybb also user post count and private messages.
Well if someone is interested in test my work please contact me via my contact form.
Cheers,
PD: Maybe I'll need a little help too, because I don't know how to create a block to integrate with Drupal. (and sorry for my english)
EDIT: you can try the demo here:
http://lgbt.tk/drupal.
Seems like a lot of work. Curious... What MyBB features that aren't in Drupal are worth going through the pain of integrating the apps?
Michelle
I would be very curious to
I would be very curious to hear a reply to this as well.
MyBB has tons of
MyBB has tons of forum-specific mods and themes. Even Drupal's "Advanced Forum" seems like a cheap 1-hour production in comparison to a professional forum software like MyBB.
.
Wow, way to crap all over my several hundred hours of free work for this community. People like you make me wonder why I bother.
Michelle
Hm? It's not like I don't
Hm? It's not like I don't appreciate the module, but no plugin for a CMS will ever be able to compare with software that is actually designed to be a forum. I know I'm a bit snarky, don't take it personally, but you really can't expect to do a better job at forums than an enormous group of forum-specialised developers.
That's because you just want
That's because you just want an "one click" installation/customization forum, but if you give a hour of your time to customize AdvForum with all that extra-modules out there you'll have a great forum integrated with Drupal, and please don't call AdvForum a crap because there are people behind these modules that are making this possible and all of them are wasting a lot of their time.
.
Thanks, d4rkngel. :) I've been neglecting my own site lately to focus on AF every minute I can and waking up to that post this morning was like a slap in the face.
Michelle
...
Remember, more people appreciate your work than don't.
(And don't forget your very own "we love michelle" thread from a year or so ago!)

"tons of forum-specific
@viadimezzo:
"tons of forum-specific stuff" isn't really an informed answer to a very specific question.
Before trashing something, think. Then invest your own time to create something better. Otherwise: shhh.
First off, I don't generally
First off, I don't generally tend to write dissertation-grade essays when I am commenting on a support issue. If you want a detailed listing of all the benefits of MyBB compared to Drupal plugins, I'd be happy to compile one and upload it somewhere separately, but I don't think anyone would appreciate one comment of mine taking up half the comment section.
That being said, I don't get your argument. You're saying, I can't criticise something because I have no intention of doing it better. Well, by that logic nobody who isn't actually a politician should be allowed to criticise the government - which strikes me as more than a tad counter-productive.
.
Criticizing the government is hardly the same as trashing the work primarily of one person who has spent hundreds of hours for free to contribute to this community.
MyBB and Advanced Forum have different audiences. If you want MyBB, fine. But there is no reason to insult my work along the way.
Michelle
Well I just wanted an
Well I just wanted an advanced forum integrated with drupal, since at that time was what I needed, however now my project is using Advanced Forum, and I'm not working the integration anymore.
