Put a product that matches a coupon in your cart. Enter coupon code in the shopping cart, the discount applies.

Remove the product from the cart, and add another one that does not match the coupon.

The discount is applied automatically even though the product is not the right one for the coupon.

Not able to reproduce this. Can you send a snapshot of your coupon settings page? Also, what is the exact sequence of actions - i.e. where are you entering the coupon code? Are you removing the matching product from the cart page or somewhere else? Thx.

I realized I had "Show coupons as an item in the cart" checked and that could be part of the problem. I unchecked it and the problem is gone. I enter the coupon code in Checkout: it is applied. I go to Review page. There, I go directly to shopping cart and remove the product. Then I add a different product, one that does not qualify for the coupon. Checkout. Before, when I had "Show coupons as an item in the cart" I could see the coupon in the cart from the old cart. That was my problem. But now, with this setting unchecked, the old coupon is not there in the cart. And when I enter the code in the coupon pane, it turns it down as expected.

So it works for me. I'm still not sure if there's any bug or not, probably not. Thank you.

Hm. Still not able to reproduce, using this exact procedure, even with "Show coupon as an item in the cart" checked. Since it's working for you, I'll mark as fixed.
