This sounds perfect for drupal.org to avoid duplicate issues. greggles linked me to this over a year ago in a comment and I somehow missed it until just now. ;) Anyway, with the experience of writing Process for getting changes deployed on drupal.org and updating Drupal.org development guidelines fresh on my mind, I figured I'd open an issue in your queue to find out if you think this is ready to deploy on d.o. Ideally, #887880: First module release (meta issue) should happen first (that'd make the case a lot more convincing). We could also at least get this up on a dev site so folks can play with it. If y'all think this is ready, feel free to just move this to the infra queue for more serious consideration.
Thanks!

ChrisBryant CreditAttribution: ChrisBryant commentedThis would be great to see made ready and deployed on Drupal.org. I can help with any testing needed.

dww#19386: Automatically search for duplicate issues/questions before submitting new issue/question is the corresponding issue in the webmaster queue for deployment... Not sure if it actually makes sense to keep this issue open. I was hoping to get the attention of the uniqueness maintainers but apparently they're uninterested since the only folks who replied are d.o regulars. :/

klonosWe can leave this one open in case somebody might wanna step up to the task in the future. In the meantime, we can also file a similar issue over at Similar Entries and see our luck there. The current maintainer is seeking for a co-maintainer: #1451694: Similar Entries is looking for a co-maintainer

coltraneAs one of the original maintainers (but now absent) I'm in favor of using Uniqueness module and think that yes, at a minimum it could be put on a test site right now.
If you were looking for more, like one of the maintainers creating the infra issue and doing the work, that's likely the hold up :).
I can say for myself that once my upcoming community commitments (drupalcon) are done I'll have more time to help out with things like this. I would like to see this module on d.o.

bforchhammer CreditAttribution: bforchhammer commentedSorry for not commenting any sooner. As the current maintainer, I am also in favor of using the uniqueness module. I haven't had much time for this module lately, but I am actually very interested in seeing some kind of uniqueness search on drupal.org...
In terms of functionality, "Apache Solr integration" would probably be one of the main issues that need testing and possibly fixing before deployment on d.o. (Assuming that solr search is what should be used for finding similar content).
The generation of the results list will most likely also require some work, as it currently only displays linked node titles, which may not be enough (?).

dwwHi folks!
Sorry if my comments have come across complaining or nagging. That wasn't the point at all. As I wrote in the initial post, all I was asking was feedback on the idea:
I see there's at least been a single release candidate, so that's a start. ;)
I totally get it about being busy with DrupalCon and other things. No worries. There's no urgent rush. This would be a new feature, not a bug fix, for d.o.
However, it sounds like y'all think this module needs some more testing and love before deployment. That's fine. If a d.o test site would be helpful for that, let me know when you're actually ready to put time into this (sadly, disk space on our dev VM is very tight so we have to be selective with what sites we spin up and only do so for things being actively worked on).
Thanks,
-Derek

mgiffordShould we wait on a stable release of https://drupal.org/project/similar

mgiffordI'm just moving this out of the Uniqueness issue queue. The Similar module has more traction. Could just be a matter of testing it and doing a comparison in a sandbox. Both have D7 releases.
