Anyone have thoughts on how to implement a ZIPped downloadable file of all the images in a particular gallery?

Valid feature request, but probably won't happen until 3.1 development is started. You should check out Imagefield Archive in the meantime and let us know if you're able to combine that with NG or not.

Postponing until we get a report on whether Imagefield Archive will work or not.

I think we can build in support for imagefield archive with just linking to a callback that calls imagefield_archive_action($nids, $context) with a few options in $context.

At this point, I won't be adding new features to the D6 version. If features are wanted for D7, please post a new issue.
