Hello!

We are proud to announce that we were able to install a Drupal system with more than 6 million nodes, with excellent performance. It took a couple of days for us to tune some "out-of-the-box" settings that were not suitable for this kind of system, but after this, we got excellent performance.

More in detail, the "million node content type" is a new content type with CCK fields (more than 10 CCK fields) and something like 5 millions nodes of this content type. These CCK fields include node references and content taxonomy references.

At first, Drupal was very slow because of the taxonomy module trying to search all of the nodes for terms that would never were applied to this kind of content type, but others. We solve this very simple just by enabling the Taxonomy view, and modifying this view by adding a filter that ignores the "million nodes" content type. After that, Drupal performance is excellent.

So now, we have a Drupal system with more than 5 million nodes running smoothly.

Just for the people who want to know if Drupal scales well with million of nodes.

Regards,
Federico.-
