Administrator menu not appearing. Please, help!

swapnil - January 27, 2007 - 04:27

I installed drupal on windows XP and everything was working great. I created my front page with default theme and was trying to edit the menus that should appear on left hand side. Somehow, I unchecked some boxes while configuring and now , the menu that appears when I log in does not show administrator option. I can only see

Create content
My account
Clean URLs
Date and time
Error reporting
File system
Image toolkit
Input formats
Performance
Search settings
Site information
Site maintenance
User management
Logs
Log out

now, I am not able to access many features like blocks , menus, theme etc. The create content only have page, story and forum. The logs do not have any information how to restore my original menu. I deleted all cookies but no help. Even tried to create new user but same menu for new users. This make Drupal not usable for me. Please help me to restore the menu that I see when I log in.
I appreciate your time and help in advance.

goto http://yoursite.com/admin/build/menu to get back to the menu area and fix whats broken.

The link assumes you have clean urls enabled and that Drupal is in your public root. If clean urls is not enabled make sure you add the ?= in the path. If you have drupal in a subdirectory, make sure you add that to the path as well.

back on track !

Even more Admin problems ... PLEASE HELP!

I just started playing with Drupal 30 minutes ago and I already messed it up. I no longer have a login screen and the only things that appear on the menu are:

About Us
Recent Posts

I tried going to the URL you mentioned: http://my.server.com/drupal/?q=admin/build/admin

However, the only thing I get is "Access denied
You are not authorized to access this page."

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated before I blow up the installation and start from scratch.
Cheers,

That is beacuse your situation is completely different. In the future please post a new thread. Mixed issues in threads, makes it more difficult to find relevant information for the people who actually do search drupal.org : )

Your problem is because you must have logged yourself out AND disabled the login block on your site.
To fix your problem

you will want to visit http://yoursite.com/subdirectory/?q=user
where you can log in again
bookmarking this in a folder called yoursite.com isnt a bad idea. Especially if you really want the login block disabled
or go back to administer -> blocks and renable the login block or put it back in the correct region.

Trust that MANY of "US" have made the same forehead smacking mistakes as you have. : ) while playing with Drupal.

We've documented most of them in this thread http://drupal.org/Troubleshooting-FAQ

Reading that page is a good way to get familair with Drupal actually. It will show you mistakes that are commonly made. Thus avoiding them is a good idea : )

Book mark that page, as your specific answer is shown right here http://drupal.org/node/111628

Thanks

Thanks for the help and the "forehead smacking" suggestions. I should stay away from computers after 10pm :-)
