One of the many new features of the upcoming Drupal 4.5.0 release is an improved localization system (locale.module). It provides an easy-to-use interface to upload translated strings into Drupal's user interface using the popular GNU gettext PO format. This will enable users to share their translations and distribute the effort of translating Drupal.

Information on what PO files are and how to use them is provided in the newly created Translator's guide section of the Drupal handbook.

You may read about translating Drupal or join the discussion in the new translations section of our forums.

Quite a few translation projects have already been created. Most of the translations aren't complete yet, so step forward and contribute!

You can download existing work-in-progress translations from the download page and file issues against them if you should find better translations or have translated more strings.

Dear friends,
I am translating Drupal 4.5 to Spanish using KBabel. I have just finished the translation of the general.po

I am suffering from a small trouble. KBabel reports "invalid value of nplurals" and Drupal reports "Translation file broken: plural formula couldn't get parsed". Although seemingly all translated sentences have been correctly uploaded.

What is happening? I beg in advance your pardon for my loose behaviour asking for a minor bug without no previous investigation. However, I am looking forward to submit spanish translations and other hand I am suffering from a hard personal time-constraints. Likely, there are lot of experienced translators out there, knowing the correct answer.

Finally, please let me to know what is the suitable way to submit the translations.

You need to replace the current nplurals-line with this one
"Plural-Forms: nplurals=2; plural=(n != 1);\n"
in your *.po files. There's also an option in KBabel which can do this for you automatically.

Another thing: Please check the CVS repository (translations/es) to prevent duplicated work, there's already a translation effort for Spanish in the works.

We don't allow comments on projects. Ask the maintainer of the French translation to include/group such information in the project's description (body).
