Hi,

I've developed a Drupal setup for sharing and organizing collections of family media -- scanned old photos, diaries, home movies, and all that. I'm looking for people with such collections (who also have some Drupal skills) who could be alpha-testers. Or (better yet) help with development.

Features include:
- Display photos, audio recordings, and home movies.
- Face-tagging (like Facebook) of persons. (Using new module based on Image Annotate)
- Profile page for each person showing media they appear in, genealogical information, etc.
- Person profiles imported from GEDCOM files, allowing integration with Ancestry.com.
- Scan-to-Web: New module allows users to scan images directly to the site with no installed software. (Using Morena)
- Transcription of scanned text. New module integrates with Mechanical Turk for easy bulk transcription jobs. E.g. making Grandma's diary searchable.
- Personal Timelines. See family members' photos & media on timeline over their life. (Using Simile and Timemap.)
- Anyone in family (or authorized users) can contribute captions, dates, geo-location, facetags.
- Metadata is written back to media files in standard tags; EXIF, XMP, IPTC
- Automatic syncing (via rsync) with media collection on your home computer. (So, for example, captions updated on the web appear in Picasa)

The demo site almost ready to show; I just need to lock down permissions and filter out any personal info from the demo photos.

Again: This is not ready for production sites, but it would help me a lot to have other people playing with this -- getting bug reports and ideas.

I'm also interested in gauging the general level of interest in such a site, and suggestions on directions where it could go. Thanks for any feedback.

This is just the sort of thing I have been looking for.

Unfortunately, I am very new to Drupal and have been looking for ways to convert my own website (www.downetown.org.uk) to Drupal as it is pretty long in the tooth and the menu system now only works properly on a Firefox browser.

My site is not as ambitious as yours. It has people, photos, documents and locations and links between all these categories. It was developed using apache, php and mysql.

If you think I can be of any use to you in this project, please let me know.
