I go into edit and weight two pages that are published on the front page yet they do not get in order. I go into menu and change the weight and save. I go to the front page and they have mot moved. Then I go back to one of the pages and the weights is on 0

Front page nodes are ordered by descending edit date/time + sticky mark (=sticky is always first in descending time) + promote at front page (=needs to be selected to get to first page)
Menus and etc. are ordered by weights.

I haven't used the "Weight" module in a long time, but have you tried it? This is a mdoule to use in addition to the feature in nodes

Well to be quite honest I have two pages that I have published on my website. I am trying to weight both and put them in a certain order. Yet, they won't respond. Using drupal 5.0

make one a sticky?

if these are pages that are always going to be on the front page (perm) just delete the first one you created and put it back in - being the newest - it will float to the top :-)
