Great theme!

Unfortunately, under 'Administer' --> 'Site Building' --> 'Menus' I can only choose between 'Primary links' and 'Navigation'. How can I active the secondary links (grey boxes)?

There is no Secondary links menu by default, so you have to create a new menu and call it Secondary links (or horizontal menu or whatever you like). Then, go to admin/build/menu/settings and use the drop down under "menu containing secondary links" to select the menu you just created. If you don't want the upper menu (what is Primary links by default) but you do want the horizontal button bar, set the primary links (on that menu admin page) to No primary links and leave the secondary links set to the Primary links menu. I hope that helps.
