1) I defined my default priorities for every node type, however when I look into the sitemap, only the nodes where I set the sitemap priority manually, have the priority listed ... the others don't have priority at all ?!

2) The usage of changefrequency seems to be random? Some nodes are put on 'always' and others on 'weekly' but I don't see how this is determined?

1. Can you possibly link to your sitemap.xml file in a comment in this issue?
2. Did you regenerate the sitemaps or run cron after changing your default node type priorities?

yes I ran cron, I tried to rebuild them, here they are:

as you can see, the 5th link does not have a priority ...
