I have been using that module and my client has reported the occasional odd behavior. At one point, I would try to create a node of a type I hadn't created yet and was refused. Other times users wouldn't be able to create new content as someone else had create the same kind of content. This may have been a configuration issue, but considerably increased development and testing time.
This would be easier for admins to use and should be easy to code. Node_limitnumber is more broad, but this module would meet a very specific need I have and have seen others have as well (especially when using content_profile).
I took another look at node_limitnumber and determined my issues with it were totally user error on my part. I'm using it rather than what I was able to get done on this module for phase 2 of the site I'm working on.
