DHTML menu conflicts with DDBlock in Internet Explorer [#1141156]

I tried to install DHTML module v.1.6 on Drupal 6.x.
Everything works fine in Firefox and Safari.
However, in IE6 and IE7 I get the following error:

1. Exception thrown and not caught.
jquery.min.js rule 19

2. Object doesn't support this property or method
dhtml_menu.js
code: 0
url: /modules/dhtml_menu/dhtml_menu.js?u rule 32 char 7

This prevents the DHTML menus from rendering correctly on these browsers and breaks other modules such as ddblock.
