Textimage never works even if letters are not bleeding off image. Captch sometimes works, but rarely. I've checked out the issues and people are still talking about hacking drupal core files to fix this (locking sessions). But that sucks since every time you upgrade you have to do it all over again. Seriously, hasn't anyone come up with an actual solution to a problem that seems to be widespread and longstanding??

I have been confounded a couple of times after correctly typing the letters in the textimage, to be told that it's not correct! It's when I do it the second time, that it "happens" to be correct & could then log in, or do whatever other activity I have made to be associated with this form of verification, log in. I dont remember that happening with 4.7.4.

So I too, think too there is a problem.

I also have a question. Are there at times 4 & at other random times 5 letters in the image or the fifth image is just unfortunately partly or fully hidden?

I used captcha and textimage on a 4.7.4 test site. I know exactly what your talking about. I too found that sometimes there was an extra letter, but in my case it was usually at the edge of the captcha image, so i could only see half of it. I can't remember the exact settings, but I think there was a setting that let me reduce the number of letters or the spacing between letters. I think that it eventually resolved my problem (or maybe I just stopped testing after that.. ) anyways, i hope this helped.
