I have been "elected" to takeover our church web site (another WP bites the dust). Of the many changes I'd like to make is alter some of the site colors depending on the liturgical colors for the day. This will probably be at least the body background, block titles, and maybe border colors. Can you think of a relatively easy/elegant way to do this in Omega? I don't necessarily want to count on JS being enabled, and I expect much mobile use after we launch.

fubhy commentedYou could do that with Omega, Delta + Context by creating a Context plugin that lets you choose a day of the week on that it is active for example and then select a predefined color layout via a Delta template (I am currently building the "Color" module plugin for Delta). You would have to integrate your subtheme with the Color module for that to work!

nancydruI haven't used Context or Delta yet so I guess I need to look at those. This is my first foray into a grid theme.

fubhy commentedMy delta_color submodule (color module implementation for Delta) will be done in a few days and that seems like the proper solution for your problem. Your subtheme will have to integrate the "Color" module, though (@see Bartik or Garland). There are a few nice documentation pages out there on how to do this.

nancydruThanks, that may be helpful on my next project (for which this one is an experiment), but I don't need the full color module and it won't set things like borders and block titles.

nancydruI just remembered that (at least in D6) Color pretty much did a find-and-replace; if this is still the case, then it might work.

nancydruThis was not "fixed".

Steven_NC commentedSet up the 6-8 (depending on the Rite you follow) subthemes you need. This should be fairly simple with search and replace unless you have very detailed styling. That's the easy part. Properly switching the theme will be tricky.
I have no idea what algorithm might be used to calculate the color needed each day. The following module may be of some help: http://drupal.org/project/themekey
If you do find a solution, please post. Very interesting idea.

nancydruThanks. I kind of wanted to avoid multiple subthemes, but that is one possibility, as is just separate CSS files ad a hook_init(). I've also thought about http://drupal.org/project/less. But I have to jump through committee hoops to even get them to the point where they want to proceed with the new site.

Argus commentedDo take a look at the Context/Delta combo it's quite easy to use and flexible.
