How to embed a panel page into a view or "promote" to the frontpage

At the moment I'm looking into a hack to get around a "limitation" with panels. For my website I have a panel page for each of my major top level pages because some of them are quite complicated i.e. /products /services /data-products etc.

Used to be using panel nodes but have recently moved towards using panel pages so that I can make use of the Feature Exports of the panel page and its settings. I used to have the teaser of the panel nodes showing up on the front page i.e. "Software: Come and see our great products etc." but now that I've moved to the panel pages there is *no* way to have the same functionality.

Right now my hack is along the lines of creating a new "Teaser" content type and redirecting the title to point at my panel page, and then create a view that will replace my frontpage. This seems a bit overkill for me, a simple solution would be to have a teaser section on the panel page configuration that would create a "Meta Node" or "Dynamic node" or something that could be "Promoted to the front page".

Can anyone comment on if this is a good idea or not?
