I have downloaded and extracted the files from OpenInviter into the folders in all possible ways i could think off but this message keep coming. Earlier to this there was another message that it could not find the libraries in the specific folded which is gone now but this one is really on my nurves... perhaps there is the simplest thing missing that i am unable to read or find in the documentation or doing something wrong.

i am sorry but it sounds like i have to guess where to find the right libraries.. could you be kind enough to guide me through?

I was getting this error too, but I put openInvite folder into my libraries folder (I use Libraries API).

I then ran cron and cleared the Contact Importer settings cache, and I got the list to show up.

@macrodesign, as Kevin points out, the safer place is the put the library into the libraries folder so that the following file exists:

sites/all/libraries/OpenInviter/openinviter.php
