Seems this module project may be dead (nothing like a new version for weeding out the dead ones!)
If it's not dead is there likely to be a version for Drupal 5.0?

jose reyero commentedNo plans for the moment.
I suggest you contact the module sponsors.
abramo commentedThis is an *extremely* useful module.
A 5.x version would be highly appreciated by those who have the need for such an application.
Hope someone may find the time to help out in this respect - unfortunately people without the programming knowledge (i.e. like me) cannot volunteer to do the job - hope I could . . . . .

sepeck commentedresetting title.
Please do not reset titles on issues.
abramo commentedhi sepeck,
I do not intend to argue with you on this point (respecting the fact that you are a contributor to this important project called Drupal) - but kindly appreciate that if modification of thread titles was considered undesirable then it would not be available and enabled.
thanks,
abramo
Comment #6
sepeck commentedThen reset the title to something relevant, not a general plea. The initial answer seems to be question seems to be seek funding.
At this point, updates can be;
Updates to issue titles are allowed to more accurately describe the problem/issue to help while scanning the issue queue. This is why people are allowed to change them. That's part of the community thing and by design.
The original title more accurately states the issue/question for people scanning the issues. That's all.
abramo commentedsepeck, purely a value judgement - but in this present case I feel your value judgement should be allowed to prevail
Comment #8
abramo commentedsepeck: you said:
"someone organizes a bounty and coordinates it so the work gets done"
could you please elaborate on this?
sepeck commentedThere are a few threads on this subject. If a given contributor/maintainer doesn't have a need for a module to be updated and doesn't have the time to do this due to work, life, other things, whatever... those interested in a module can band together and raise funds to pay someone for their time to update a module.
You could for instance ask a maintainer if they would be interested in this and an estimated cost. If they are not, you could put an open request out to other developers. You could contact the original sponsors of the module and ask if they would be interested in sponsoring development in the update themselves or sharing those costs with others.
This is not something that I have done myself, just seen others do it. It happens with various aspects of Drupal and other Open Source projects.

abramo commentedsepeck, many thanks for your advice, much appreciated.
I will contact the developer to enquire about any possibilities.
abramo commentedany possibilities??
Patrick Nelson commentedI'll have a go at updating this to 5.1 but I don't know 5.1 yet and if I am unable to, I will happily chuck $50 into the pot to help make it happen - if there is someone else willing to have a go.
Regards
Patrick
Comment #13
jonfhancock commentedI'll chip in if we need to hire someone.
abramo commentedcount me in!
Patrick Nelson commentedWell it seems to me that there are at least three of us (myself, jonfhancock and abramo) who would be willing to pay to have this module updated to 5.0.
Would anyone be interested in taking on the development?
Regards
Patrick
Comment #16
abramo commentedok, let's designate a project coordinator in order to proceed - any takers?
let's also re-confirm our interest: I'am still in.
Patrick Nelson commentedWhat does being project co-ordinator involve?
abramo commenteddelivering the goods, I suppose . . .
abramo commentedupdate of this module will need financial backing and I have undertaken to be the project coordinator.
anybody interested in contributing financially for the speedy update of this module please PM me as soon as possible. the updated module shall eventually be made available to the Drupal community but not immediately - it shall be made available after a period of four months . only members who have contributed financially for its development shall have immediate access.
jose reyero commentedHello,
It seems there's a lot of interest in this module, so I will possibly be updating it in the next future... My availability is not very good at this moment though.
So if you're looking for someone to work on this and can wait a pair weeks, you can contact me. Or if you want to find someone else who provides a patch right away, I'll just commit it, so ok with that too.
abramo commented@Jose : naturally, the original author has priority : shall PM

jose reyero commentedSomeone has post an update. See http://drupal.org/node/150258
Give it a try and let me know.
jose reyero commentedCommitted that patch, so it should work now -more or less- with Drupal 5.
So, as you can see, it was not dead, just sleeping :-)
