Is there some place I can find really basic instructions for someone who doesn't know anything about drupal or CSS or HTML on doing things like uploading videos or creating subtabs?

I guess it depends on what you're trying to do. I am putting together a community site and I am using a hosted solution. The host (siteground in my case) provides the basic instructions and support. By flipping between their instruction guides and the drupal.org handbooks, I put together a site in about 2 days. You don't need to know any coding to create the site or add new modules. Actually, the instructions are available on siteground without signing up, so you might want to start there.

I don't know about videos or subtabs, but I'm right now in the midst of designing an ultra-user-friendly course on configuring Drupal. Right now this is a private, log-in only sort of thing, designed for my current students who are also signed up for hosting accounts with Drupal pre-installed. Features include...

  • Lots of screenshots with big red arrows pointing where to click and where to type
  • Multiple choice questions scattered amidsts the screenshots, to keep you on your toes and make sure you're picking up the info
  • Interation with other students taking the course, including ranking and grading each others' assignments (which include signing into each other's Drupal sites - instant registered users who offer valuable feedback ;)
  • Workgroups and team projects where classmates learn to work together -- a very handy way to learn Drupal's moderation and workflow control.
