I just installed D7 and don't know what module(s) or theme is best for setting up my site in the style of a yahoo or Google group. My site's primary function is for a writer's group membership to submit their documents for members to download, print out and critique. I am visually disabled and find it extremely difficult to browse all the forums and knowledge bases to derive answers. There is an extensive list of modules, and many themes and cannot decide which is ideal for my needs.

I see no one has answered since there's no simple, single recipe in Drupal to do this in style of other hosted group APIs.
Take a look at http://www.submishmash.com/ which has both a free or $20 customizable level.
