I have read several of the issue reports on how to change the default domain/migrate to new domain but I am still in need of some clarification.
I want to replace two sites: subdomain1.example.com and subdomain2. example.com ,which currently have 2 separate databases, with a new version of these sites using domain access.
The new version using domain access has subdomain1-dev.example.com as the primary domain (id=0) and subdomain2-dev.example.com as an additional domain.
I realize from this report that I should have done it differently: http://drupal.org/node/766970 but I'm hoping it will not be too difficult to correct for this.
1. Back up subdomain1.example.com and subdomain2.example.com and take offline.
2. Back up subdomain1-dev.example.com (the primary domain) and take offline.
3. Replace database and files of subdomain1.example.com with database and files from subdomain1-dev.example.com
4. Edit the domain record for the primary site and the other (just one in my case) domains to the permanent URLs.
What am I missing? Is this the right order of steps? Or should I use domain alias?
I am posting this in hopes that it will help someone else too who may not understand the instructions here: http://drupal.org/node/766970

dqdI'll close this issue due to inactivity for 13 years and even if I would move it to the next nearest core version which is 7, there is upcoming EOL of Drupal 7 in January 2025. While the project's version for Drupal 7 will surely keep providing support for security issues and website breaking bug fixes for Drupal 7, we should try to minimize the open issues for Drupal 7 in the queue as much as possible. A big thanks around for the report and all the efforts in here. Feel free to re-open if you can provide a fix or found an additional related problem which increases the issue priority.
