I am experiencing a quite annoying bug: with manually uploadable thumbnails, there is no separate "submit" button in the cck field where the thumbnail is uploaded.
I am able to upload a thumbnail by browsing, selecting a file and saving the whole node, but this also deletes the thumbnail whenever i leave the upload field empty, to modify other settings in the node/edit page.

Would it be possible to insert a separate "submit" button for the thumbnail? Another possible solution would be removing the "browse" element whenever a thumbnail has already been uploaded, possibly placing a "remove" button instead, to be able to modify the saved thumbnail.

I do not see the behavior where the thumbnail is removed if you submit the node form while leaving the upload field empty. Could you try to reproduce it with version 4.6?
