Even if anonymous authors are given the permission to commit (one or more) transition(s), they can't do that neither in the Edit tab nor in the Workflow tab (in case displaying the latter is permitted as well).

Hmm. I have no trouble making transitions as an anonymous user.

I did notice that authors of nodes in the creation state were not given the 'author' role. This could lead to the problem you described. That issue has been fixed.

Please re-test with the soon to be beta2 and re-open this issue if the problem persists.
