I love MAYO, but need to change a bit how my node gets displayed.

I have a CCK (custom content type) called "films". I copied MAYO's "node.tpl.php", named it "node-films.tpl.php" and did a few changes. But after I placed the new file in my "/sites/all/themes/mayo/templates" directory (and cleared the cache) the changes didn't show up on my film nodes' design.

What am I doing wrong, missing? Same method worked with non-MAYO themed sites.
