I'm not new to drupal, but new to git. Therefore I want to ask how I can get the files to test this module?

Visit the "Git Instructions" tab on the frontpage of this sandbox. It contains all you need to get going. I'm sorry for this simple answer, but this is not the place for a proper git course ;-)
