Hi,

it would be nice, if players could also be detected automatically by installed modules.
For example:

This would take advantage of the modular structure and the rich number of players in Drupal7 including their ability to check for updates :)

+1 but it's difficult to tell whether for an audiofield in question those modules are actually set as the display formatter for an audio field so to definitively check a config sitewide is not feasible. We could implement on a field-by-field basis and throw warnings on that content type admin page.

Thoughts anyone?

This module already detects if flowplayer is installed or not. I guess something similar could be done for jplayer. Not sure we need any of players from video modules, as they don't play audio files.

D7 supports the inclusion of the jPlayer and Flowplayer modules. The D8 version is not module-dependent so we won't support the dependency on the jPlayer module. These modules actually don't even have D8 versions, so at this point it isn't even an option.
