As long as you're thinking of associating nutrition data with recipe ingredients, it would be awesome if users cold add the price of ingredients per unit, so that the cost of making any given recipe could be calculated automatically.

This _could_ be handy, but thinking that no price is fixed in the food industry, it will be difficult to maintain those prices..
correct me if I'm wrong

There are a number of services that offer price lookup of ingredients by search or UPC. Often associated with barcode-centric mobile apps.
