Rather than appearing as an image in the content (in this case a blog post) the image uploaded appears as a link to where it resides on my server. I would like it to appear as an image as if I had inserted an image with a WYSWYG editor.

This is not a FileField Sources issue particularly. You need to configure your field to display as an image instead of a link. Visit admin/content/types. Click on the type you'd like to change. Click "Display fields". Change the display of the file field from a link to an image.
