I too would love to be able to use this module for Drupal 7. This is a very useful ability for administrators who want to delegate specific aspects of site administration while managing control over the entire site.

Ah, now I see that the role delgation module supersedes this module. So I assume this status should be closed (won't fix).

No. I have just received maintainership of RoleAssign and I will do a D7 port.

It's a great module for a small site with one or two webmasters.
