Entering a time as 11:00 then displays as 7:00 when the site's time zone is -4:00, even if there is no allowance for individual timezone settings. I've marked this critical since it's very confusing for community sites outside of the GMT timezone, and discourages members from listing their events.

I agree this is critical. I think what you are seeing is the same as problem I have seen with the times...

With a clean install of 4.5.1, I have my default timezone set to -5:00 (Eastern Standard Time) and disabled confirurable time zones since my site is focused on local uses in this time zone. In the Events set up, I originally had set it to "Time Zone Handling -> Yes".

I then created an event at 7:30pm (1930) and hit the preview button. When the preview came up, it was set to 1430. if I then hit review again, 5 more hours were knocked off the time... When I saved it (as 1430), it would then consistently display as 1430 no matter what I did.

I finally went into the Events->settings and changed the Time Zone Handling to NO.

Now, when I create an event, it is created and saved with the proper time.

I don't know if any progress has been made yet on this issue... I saw some talk in the archived, but I am still trying to figure out how to tell what has been incorporated, and what the status is on things.

Anyway, I don't need the time zone handling, but I am sure some others might... If nothing else, if it cannot handle the timezones, the perhaps the settings should disable it and a message displayed so people know it is not working.

I believe this is an issue with 4.5. Timezones are handled differently in 4.6

Acturally not. I almost checked all archives taking about timezone. No complete solution be provieded. it happen on calendar, event, and rss time also, it's a critical issue to most cross-community sites.

I need more information on exactly what is happening with this before I can do anything. In the version 4.6 of event module, with the settings correctly setup, timezones are most definitely handled properly and are not corrected for GMT or timezone offset if you dont want. I am going to close this since i have not heard anyone else mention problems with it since 4.6. Please re-open a new ticket for version 4.6 if there is a report for that version.
