If you create a views of usernode usernames and test it works great. If you add a filter on roles it returns 0 results. Looking into more thoroughly now.

Apart from the default roles "anonymous user" and "authenticated user" (which can't work as they are not in the database) everything seems to work at my place. I can't reproduce the described issue at all.

Also, the role handling in usernode.module didn't change for the 5.x version. No idea what could be wrong here.

It seems that a reinstall of the module cleared this up on my end as well sorry for the bug spam. i ant able to find the problem but it is gone now.
