It would be great if modal frame could ship with minified versions of child.js and parent.js. Patch forthcoming.

Hrm. I think it should be Drupal minifying the Javascript before returning to the user via modules such as Google Closure Compiler or Javascript Aggregator - rather than committing the minified source to the Git repo.
