Putting the secondary menu in the sidebar_first region

I want to put the secondary menu (originally rendered in page.tpl.php on line 100, e.g. print theme('links__system_secondary_menu', ...)) inside the sidebar_first region. How is this done? I don't see any other templates I can leverage and I cant seem to put the PHP into a block to add the block to the sidebar.
