I have the login problem that no one seems to be able to figure out in 4.7.6.

I'd like to upgrade from 4.7.x to 5.1, but I can't log in to disable modules and switch themes - should I just go ahead and try to upgrade anyway?

Do I need to upgrade to 5.0 before going to 5.1? If so, where can I download a copy of 5.0? I can't seem to find a copy on here anywhere.

You can safely go straight from 4.7.x to 5.1. However, I would not advise you to attempt the upgrade without being able to log in. I'm sorry that I don't know anything about that login problem... I have never experienced it.
