I was wondering how I would implement jQuery pop up window. I am aiming for the user to click on login and the login window will appear over the page.

Before that, in your opinion is it a functional element in a user interface? I'm not sure if I am implementing this for the "coolness".

There are several existing modules, one of them is Ajax login/register.
