Position Description
Worldwatch Institute is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Web Manager to serve as the go-to individual for all Institute web activities. He/she will be responsible for developing and maintaining the main Worldwatch website (www.worldwatch.org) as well as several smaller sites. Tasks include the day-to-day maintenance and operation of these sites, coordinating web functions, monitoring website activity, incorporating new technologies, and enhancing the Institute’s overall web presence.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience and skills in the following areas: website and CMS design, implementation, and maintenance; HTML/CSS/PHP coding and editing; website development, management, and strategy; e-commerce and online advertising strategies/solutions; and user experience and website accessibility issues. He/she must be able to thrive in a team-oriented environment, working closely with all departments of the organization. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, though demonstrated experience in website development is more critical. Candidate must be able to demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of web technologies and must be a quick learner.

Essential Functions
- Work with management, research, communications, and editorial staff to post daily content to the website, including news, announcements, PDF publications, and multimedia content;
- Work with customer service representatives to assure the fulfillment of online publication orders, and assist in any web-related customer service needs;
- Work with communications staff to develop and send e-mail newsletters to weekly listserv of over 70,000 subscribers;
- Create monthly web reports, utilizing web logs, online donations info, online sales data, and user info from web databases;
- Head the Institute’s Web Team and work with team members to develop new web features, functionality, and strategy;
- Work with marketing, communications, and research staff to develop, promote, and launch materials related to Institute publications and products.
