DESIGN BRIEF:
URSTREETFASHION had a simple design specification. Fashion lovers and bloggers should be able to upload and manage photos of their 'street style' and there should be many community features. We also wanted to integrate innovative revenue sharing capabilities that do not exist on the current websites of this type. The site should be simple and user friendly as well as ready for the search engines!
UNIQUE FEATURES:
1. SOCIAL NETWORKS: We wanted integration with social networks. The core users for this site will be bloggers who actively promote their content through facebook and twitter. We have added capability to publish their social network content in return for reposting our site on the social networks, an excellent growth strategy.
2. REVENUE SHARING: We have implemented revenue sharing technology to encourage users to upload their content. While many sites have the upload features of URSF, very few have any structured approach to sharing the revenue and encouraging use.
3. DESIGN: Many people hate photo-based websites and with good reasons, compatability, speed and just simple navigation. However, most people interested in fashion have a different approach. For this reason we used professional photos to create a theme that would appeal to fashion-lovers, and help to drive use of the website.
TIMESCALE:
This website (although still in beta and being developed) took about 1 month from conception to live.
MODULES USED:
We love views in Drupal 7. They are working brilliantly and their power must never be underestimated. Backing up this amazing module are the usual suspects, nicemenus, flags, rate and many more of the supporting cast. The website itself though, could not work without views, their exposed filters and the wonderful ajax integration for usability.

the idea is great. but there
the idea is great. but there are some problems such as :
- forums: get rid of them.
- page load: perhaps due to background images
- it's called urstreetfashion which, to me, would appeal to a more male audience. as such, the use of glossy images such those a la Vogue may be in contradiction with the more rugged vision street fashion often carries.

Any particular reason? Kind of like saying "photo galleries: get rid of them", or "twitter feeds: get rid of them".
Background images load up fine for me on a modest (8mb) connection
i think forums are more techy
i think forums are more techy oriented than fashion people but that's just me. check out thefancy.com for example. fbss module can be a good start imo.
