Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
I would like to take an informal poll to get a feeling for how many users are out there and how the module is being used (nothing sinister here, just curious) . You can either leave a follow up note here or if you wish to remain anonymous, send me a email via my contact page.
Perhaps if there is enough interest, we could start a Drupal Group for discussions.
Cheers,
Ron.

techczech CreditAttribution: techczech commentedI've been using the module ever since it was available for 4.7, watching it reach new levels of perfection. I am currently running it on four live sites (mostly 5.1):
http://www.conceptualmetaphor.net
http://www.cadaad.org
http://www.cogling.info
http://www.praguelinguistics.org (only 4.7 one)
I am also planning to use it on a major site I'm developing for a university school (no live link yet). For that I'm particularly hoping that the new taxonomy features will do what I need.
I'm not too sure about the group. It's not a bad idea as such but this issue queue is very active and a very friendly environment to bounce ideas around (thanks to Ron's superlative maintainership) so I wonder if the Group would make these debates a little less focused (but maybe it would make the maintainer's life easier). Maybe a slightly more generic group: Drupal and the Academia would be better (along the lines of the DrupalEd group http://groups.drupal.org/drupaled-distro). But if a Biblio group IS established I will definitely participate.

p0732658 CreditAttribution: p0732658 commentedI started using the bilio module last september... whent back to Joomla for a while and saw the light again in December ! Actually, this module was my main reason to come back to Drupal and sticking with it dispite that I prefer using Joomla.... I'm using the biblio module to build a king of universel bibliography about the Acadian people on my site http://www.bibliothequevirtuelleacadienne.org which I hope will become I gigantic virtual library about all aspect of the life and history of Acadians in Canada and around the world. The biblio module is getting better and better with every release and will always be the main core of my project.

Cantalamessa CreditAttribution: Cantalamessa commentedI use it on a university research group web page, listing all the papers written and published by our staff. This is important for us, since a) it gives a professional look to the website, and b) helps us and our reviewers to better understand our research efforts.
I use to attach the PDF version of the paper to each biblio entry (apropos, is there any module giving a sort of access control to file downloads? Like asking the visitor to check an Agreement before downloading), as well as including directly its abstract. This module is one of the reasons why I chose Drupal instead of other CMSs.

cirotix CreditAttribution: cirotix commentedI use it for a portal of a research community (the biblio part is currently not lanch).
I (will) use it for a database of relevant publication in the field as well as to emulate LaTeX + BibTeX, with automatic citation of papers (yet this functionality doesn't exist).
I plan to continue to participate to the development of the module by submitting patches.
I think that a group is a good idea.

huizache CreditAttribution: huizache commentedI am using the module for an academic group, and an NGO. On both cases it will be used as a complement to a Course. How ever with colleague we are looking foward to create a bibliography sharing web portal, based on drupal + biblio. I wrote to you not so long ago, about filters in body field. a group of user+developer would be good!
GeoffGlasson CreditAttribution: GeoffGlasson commentedI'm currently trialling the module on my test system using a PostgreSQL backend. The intention is to use it on my main site to provide a bibliography, but also to integrate it with the taxonomy and views module so that I can provide targeted content pages of specific publications. For example, my current site has a static page dedicated to risk management containing links to risk management documents. I'd like to have a dynamically generated page that filters the bibliography for risk management documents, and displays the appropriate entries. This would simplify the management of my website and IMO improve the information available to my users.

techczech CreditAttribution: techczech commentedHi, everyone. Since it seems that there is general support for the idea of a biblio group, I consulted with Ron and to save him a bit of time, set up the group on http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-research-and-academia. We decided to go with a bit broader remit to include other possible issues related to using Drupal in academic and research contexts. If it turns out to have been the wrong choice it is easy to later either split or rename the group.
I started a few threads to get us going:
- showcase of relevant sites - http://groups.drupal.org/node/2827
- Biblio documentation wiki - http://groups.drupal.org/node/2829
- poll canvasing interest - http://groups.drupal.org/node/2830

Jasieboy CreditAttribution: Jasieboy commentedHi,
I'm currently trying out the biblio module at http://www.digiplay.info/digibiblio to list references on digital games research. Having just made a shift from using Wikindx which is excellent but doesn't integrate smoothly with Drupal I've been timidly trying out the first 60 or so references from an Endnote file of over 2000. So far I'm really pleased. :-)

mbria CreditAttribution: mbria commentedHi rjerome,
Sorry for the delay... but I missed your post. :-P
I started with your biblio module for a research team (http://psicologiasocial.uab.es/gescit) as a "prof of concept", to let the group members post their publications in a comfortable and practical way but then I noticed was extremely well thought and I'm planning to extend it to the full department (http://psicologiasocial.uab.es) as an inventory of all the bibliography we got.
After this I will extend biblio to other research groups in a similar way as in the first one.
My fellows are really happy with your work and also myself, as far as it's solid as a rock and it's code is easy to understand... just in case I need to hack it in future.
My only concern with your module was the integration with i18n (the internationalization module) but I think your last modifications make this task easier.
Thanks a lot for the great work done,
m.

webengr CreditAttribution: webengr commentedI have a history society that I'm trying to help. They were using ItsMarc
and the software expired, but I was able to export raw MARC records before
the software date expired.
I installed the biblio module on drupal 5.1,
Now I see the import file under admin settings, but
I think the next step is to convert the raw marc records to BibTex
or something and pray it will import.
I did not see a field like "Subject" which is a common field used in card catalogs?
Anyone have suggestions or input on the concept of trying to use this module more
like a card catalog for reference books, magazines, maps and collections
And has some tried to import from a proprietary program like ItsMarc or Past Perfecgt?
techczech CreditAttribution: techczech commentedRe Subjects: You can just use the Keywords key for that.
I have some MARC records myself - let me know if you come up with a good way of converting them into RIS. AdeptScientific have a programme called Marc Notebook that might be helpful. I haven't tried it, though.

I am currently making a prototype site using the biblio module for the Independent Living Institute's (http://www.independentliving.org) online, full-text library. Excellent module!
We are using it for a university research group, with 15 faculty. The web page is at http://www.mina.ubc.ca
It is currently under development, and is located in the /drupal subdirectory.
We recently started using this, and are very impressed with the module, and are still exploring the possibilities. One exciting feature is to have automatic generated "faculty" web pages, with the publications listed.
regards,
Lukas

cfennell CreditAttribution: cfennell commentedHi Ron,
I'm currently using Biblio in two major projects and a variety of smaller ones.
EthicShare
- This database will (hopefully) serve as the primary collaborative platform for the Bioethics community. We're integrating a variety of other modules into the citations to maximize collaboration. Currently, we have some basic/prototype ideas up and running to demonstrate these features. They include the idea of posting citations into organic group discussions (via a "lazy instantiation" method) and highlighting citations where discussions are ongoing directly within the search interface.
Here's the prototype site (still a bit rough)
http://ethicshare.cs.umn.edu
Another project that has just emerged is one that deals with collecting citations from around the world on topics related to agriculture and agricultural economics. This has just popped up on our radar, and we haven't nailed down the specs yet. But we have a basic prototype here:
http://harvestchoice.cs.umn.edu/resources/publications
We're also using the Solr module (and the Solr search engine, obviously) to add faceted browsing of search results and exceptionally fast response times (3/10 of a second, for example) for both of these projects.
I do plan on sharing the Solr work at some point - perhaps a tutorial on how to map over Biblio fields to the Solr schema. More on that later....
Down the road, I hope our shop will be able to make some non-trivial contributions to the project in the form of contributed modules. We will, for example, need to build up a depulication system to improve the quality of the data in these large systems. Deduplication is definitely a non-trivial process, but our organization has a fairly deep level of experience in this process and we should be able to tap that skill. But, we have a good deal of other issues to tend to before we get to this point.
So, yes, please add my congratulations and thanks to this thread, your work has been tremendously helpful.
