Cannot seem to play any of the uploaded videos, either in the media browser or the node. Possibly I have something misconfigured, but was hoping someone has (and fixed) a similar issue. In the browser, the video preview is blank, cannot be played. In a node, the video area just says "Download File" which links to the root directory.

You will need to install an additional player module to play videos. I've had the most success with MediaElement: http://www.drupal.org/mediaelement
