To follow on from #627378: views template overrides in module directory the test does not detect views_view__frontpage in the theme registry. Using the registry viewer in the devel module I can see views_view__MYVIEWNAME__MYDISPLAY after implementing hook_views_api() in a custom module and placing views-view--MYVIEWNAME--MYDISPLAY.tpl.php in the custom module directory.
