This is a useful field. The description text should be something like "List previous speaking experience including the venue, number of people in the audience, whether the content was similar to this proposed session, and give links to the event site or video if available."

This seems good to me. One advantage of this being a per-session field rather than a user profile field is that presenters can tailor their descriptions of relevant experience for each session. It also lets the field be private without users needing the "administer users" permission to view admin only user profile fields, if the fields are to be kept private.
