What would roughly be involved with porting/rewriting this module to/for Drupal Commerce on Drupal 7?

There will be absolutely no rewrites, since this a general API. There are plans to write a module to integrate this with Drupal Commerce though. However, the current code base needs to be ported to Drupal 7 first, which will be done after the Drupal 6 branch is stable.

I'll give it a go.

(Unless you have a half finished version of the integration lying around already. Then I have a little budget here.

I spent a day on getting to understand uc_ideal_pro and starting to port it to D7/Commerce... before I found this module by accident :-/ )
