little confused about "node"

when i installed some mods (like image and blog) everything i post goes under "node" ... im really knew with drupal, so i'd like to know, how do i get a seperate section for stories, blogs, images, and everything else i post?

If you're looking for some other way to represent your URLs, you could try the Pathauto module, which can combine nicely w/ the taxonomy module to create URLs based on taxonomy.
For example:
If you have a content type, let's say you're posting a story. Let's also assume you have assigned it a taxonomy term of "video". You can configure pathauto to create a URL which goes a little something like this
http://<drupal path>/story/video/2131Hopefully I have been of assistance :P
