Today, karl sf has asked me where to post core Galrand issues.

Hi,

I was trying to find a place to post bugs with the Garland theme that
comes with Drupal 5 core. I cannot find Garland in the Theme list. Is there
anywhere to send issues and work on fixes?

I do not code php much. I do UI, Information Design, Usability design
specs. I know CSS. I would love to team up with a PHP Themer to work on the
bugs on some of these themes.

I can't shake the search box on the left, I the right column shows
erratically,I get weird characters in some of the menus, Not sure how to
crete a template where I can turn off the left block, but will spend more
time looking for that.

Thanks.
K.

Answer is simple:

Open an issue against the core 'Drupal' project, then select the 'Garland theme' component.

I give my answer in the forums so that other can enjoy it too.

Thanks, saw your message, however I could not find where to submit an issue for the core 'Drupal' Project There is no Project in the global navigation, under Downloads, the Tile of the page is Projects, but the core project is not there, nor the core themes.

I had difficulty with it too, in the beginning. Here are the instructions:

  1. In the right menu, select 'Create Content'. Then Select 'Issue'. You get the 'Submit issue' screen.
  2. Fill the project field. If you are trying to submit usability issues for the garland theme, select 'Drupal' (the second item under the 'Drupal Project' category) and click 'Next'. If you are trying to submit general usability issues which are not module specific, select the 'User Experience' project under the 'Drupal Project' category. You get the second issue submission screen. If you want to report usability issues for the drupal.org website itself, I suggest you open them for the 'Drupal.org webmasters' project, then send them personal messages like you've sent me.
  3. If you selected 'Drupal', you should now select the component to which the usability issue relates. Select 'Garland Theme' (it's in the bottom of the list) and try to fill as much details as possible about the issue, things which will help people visualize the problem. Add a link to a flickr picture of the usability issue, or record it as an AVI file with the free camstudio and upload it to a video sharing site, then give a link. This will highly improve the change of people understanding you. Or include the image as an attachment.
  4. After filling all details, press the submit bottom. Take care - you won't be able to later modify the text - only add new comments.
  5. Continue to update the issue to reflect new understanding you've got about the situation, and/or links to relevant information.

This guide reflects my best understanding. If you have better alternatives, please send your suggestions below.
