Hi, thanks for this module, I've installed it on a 5.1 install (PHP 4, LAMP) and it appears to work fine.

Some observations/suggestions:

  • To create a postcard you specify one or all galleries which are enabled. Would it be better to be able to use any taxonomy tag for this (e.g. an existing one (postcards of "dogs") or a new specific tag for postcards)? If you can only use a gallery tag, you create a new example.com/image/X_gallery which you may not want to do (e.g. if you like having all your galleries on display, but not have overlaps)
  • I was wondering though if you considered having a conversation with the maintainer of the "send to a friend" module, there's an overlap here that could be complementary: having plain "send to a friend" for non-image nodes, which becomes "send as a postcard" for image nodes, if you know what I mean.

    Just my thoughts after playing around with the module.

    Actually it would be nice to send any node as a postcard and not just image. because then it can be used in many interesting ways. For example a chain of sends with each person adding/editing to mode something and sending to next one.

    Hi peter thanks for the feedback. Regarding point 1, I actually do want to completely rethink how the postcard gallery is indicated. At a basic level it should at least allow multiselect rather than one or all. But thinking ahead I also want to think about how it could work with other media modules and so not necessarily be reliant on image galleries per se. I'll keep all of this in mind once I get on to improving the module. For point 2, I've not looked at the "send to a friend" module so I'll take a peek there and see how things look. Thanks for bringing that up.

    Other issues are working on uncoupling postcard from Image gallery, specifically supporting imagecache and not using image at all.
