This issue was fixed in 7.x-1.x: #1092056: Sidebar loses constrained width when blocks are assigned via Context module

Also needs a fix in D6 branch.

Not sure exactly why, but this change completely blew up the theme on my site. In case anyone else can use it as well, here's a patch that reverts this commit (without losing the recent security fix).
