Need someone to develop/provide a theme code snippet or menu system mini-module to do the following:
- I have a set of menus and I need to count the number for direct children for each menu group and level and then write that into the UL of that level in the output (e.g as a class).
- My objective is to use that information to control the styling of each set of links depending on the number of items in it.

This post was promising [ http://www.nicklewis.org/a-practical-tutorial-on-drupals-menu-system ], but the API for Dr6 is different from the DR5 context used here

NB:
I am capable of hacking code to get this done, but I need an elegant/clean and speedy solution in this case - will pay market rates.
