I would like to put credit a line at the top of all the quotes, something like: "Compiled by John Doe", instead of putting his name under each quote. Is there a way to do this? because we have only one contributor and it will look weird to have his name under every quote.

Hmm, I'd have to think about how to put the line at the top unless someone else comes up with the answer. But th easiest way to eliminate it from each quote is to turn off the "submitted by" in the global theme settings.

How about a block that displays at the top of only that page?

I had just answered and flipped over to a site I've been working on, and there, staring me in the face, was exactly the same thing I did yesterday to give some information about blogs. Well, duh!

But, it would be a good idea to add some introductory text to the settings for the module.
